Man hospitalised with life threatening injuries, fighting for life after crash, police appeal for witnesses

A pedestrian was hospitalised with injuries to his head and foot following a car incident last night.

Around 6.10 p.m. last night, a guy was standing next to his car, which was partially parked on the kerb of Brotton’s High Street in the Redcar and Cleveland district, when a Volkswagen Polo collided with him.

Paramedics took the 36-year-old to neighbouring James Cook University Hospital after suffering head and foot injuries. The woman driving the automobile is not thought to have suffered any injuries.

The driver, a woman, is not believed to have been injured in the crash.

Police investigators are currently investigating the crash and are looking for witnesses and film.

PC Steven Lake, of Cleveland Police’s roads policing section, said: “While our investigations continue, I’d want to take this opportunity to invite members of the public who may have been in the vicinity at the time the collision occurred to contact us.

“Perhaps you witnessed the collision or have dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage that could help with the inquiry.
