A 52-year-old man who was found critically injured in a Warwickshire street has died in hospital.
The victim’s injuries suggested he had been run over by a vehicle, police said.
Paramedics were called to Burnaby Close, in Nuneaton, at about 00:00 BST after receiving a report that a man had fallen from a vehicle.
A 56-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed.
Police said the injured man had been taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire with severe head and pelvic injuries, and died this afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said investigations are continuing and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday in order to establish the cause of his death.
Police appealed for witnesses and also want to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious near to the Royal Oak public house, in Stockingford, at about the time of the incident, when it is known the victim caught a taxi.
