Following an attack at Reading railway station, a man has passed away.
On Saturday, July 20, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the victim—named locally as Jonathan Donovan from Tilehurst—was brought to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after suffering significant injuries.
After being placed into a coma, he died on August 11 at the age of sixty.
Police announced last month that they had detained three persons in relation to the incident.
On July 21, Thames Valley Police detained a 26-year-old Reading man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and a 39-year-old Slough man on suspicion of causing GBH with intent.
A third individual, a Reading lady of 20 years old, was also taken into custody on suspicion of causing gross bodily harm. They were all freed until October 13 on police bond.
Detective Inspector Jon Morley, who works out of the Reading police station, made the following statement at the time: “First and foremost, during this very trying time, our thoughts are with the family of the guy who was assaulted on Saturday evening.
“I’m pleading with anyone who saw this assault to come forward.
“Anyone who has information about the assault, including images or footage, should contact 101 or file a report online with reference number 43240345971.”
