Man died after being crushed by Land Rover in Wem Industrial Estate.

An inquest has determined that a man died after being crushed by the Land Rover he was repairing.
The vehicle’s prop shaft was being changed by Russell Powell, 61, on the Wem Industrial Estate close to Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Mr. Powell’s wife went out to look for him after he didn’t come home, and she found him beneath the car.

The 4×4 crushing Mr. Powell’s chest and lungs was determined to be the cause of his death since it prevented him from breathing.

At at 16:30 GMT, Mr. Powell had started working on the vehicle, the Shrewsbury Coroner’s Court heard.
To gain access to the prop shaft below the car, he had set it up on a ramp.
When Mrs Powell arrived at the flat at approximately 23:35 GMT, her husband was no longer on the ramp and was underneath the car.

Shortly after midnight, Mr. Powell’s death was confirmed by emergency services.
John Ellery, the coroner at Shirehall, declared the death to be accidental.
