The reported victim is in her 20s
A man who is accused of raping a lady in Gillingham has shown up in court. On Wednesday, July 24, at 5.45 a.m., a lady in her 20s reported to Kent Police that she had been sexually assaulted by a man in the town’s Marlborough Road neighbourhood.
Later that day, after conducting enquiries, police detained a guy in relation to the event. Since then, a Gillingham resident, 25, has been accused of rape. He was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, August 16, after his appearance before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 23.
Anybody who was in the vicinity on Tuesday, July 23, between midnight and six in the morning is still wanted to speak with the police. Residents who have not yet spoken to police and have dashcam or private CCTV evidence, as well as doorbell film, are also urged to contact authorities.
