The driver failed a roadside drug test, police said
A man was sadly killed after being struck by a car in north Manchester, with a lady detained on the scene.
The 45-year-old was hit by a car on Rochdale Road in the Collyhurst neighborhood, at the intersections with Queens Road and Paget Street, around 9.50 p.m. last night (Sunday, September 30). Police say he was ‘lying in the road’ when the vehicle hit him.
Sadly, he suffered fatal injuries and died. The driver of the car – a 46-year-old woman – failed a roadside drug test on the scene.
She was detained on accusations of causing death by careless driving. She was taken into custody to be questioned by authorities, and an investigation is currently underway.
A large emergency response, including police and paramedics, was seen on Rochdale Road late Friday night. A section of the road was closed off while investigations were conducted.
