An inquest into the death of a lady who fell at an abandoned quarry has been opened.
Today at Bournemouth town hall, the inquest into the death of Cattrin Wickens, 82, was began by Richard Middleton, the assistant coroner for Dorset.
During the hearing, Sarah Harrison, the coroner’s officer, said to the court that the ambulance service had called Dorset Police about a woman who was not breathing near the cliffs.
Emergency services did their utmost, but Ms. Wickens was declared deceased.
The officer declared, “She was confirmed deceased at Winspit cottage in Worth Matravers.”
Multiple injuries were determined to be the cause of death during an autopsy at Holly Tree Lodge.
As previously mentioned, at about 2:00 pm, the coastguard, police, fire, and ambulance services were dispatched to the vicinity of Winspit Quarry close to Purbeck hamlet.
According to a previous coastguard official, Ms. Wickens tripped and fell 60–70 feet at the quarry while strolling with her spouse along the South West Coast Path.
When Ms. Wickens passed away, she was a retired teacher who resided in Poole.
