During the weekend, Gillingham had the opportunity to watch a young West Ham United forward up close. The team played Millwall.
In the early stages of the preseason, 21-year-old Kamarai Simon-Swyer trained with the Gills and participated in the first half of Saturday’s Priestfield friendly against Millwall.
The Gills have the chance to add the 21-year-old trialist to their attacking lineup. He was on loan at Crawley Town in League 2 the previous season.
Mark Bonner, the manager of the Gills, stated: “Karai has been with us for a few days.”
“He was allowed to stay and practice for a few days at West Ham.
Before deciding whether to take any action on that one and whether he wants to, it’s a good idea for us to take a look at him.
“Many in those attacking positions have that option; we’re happy to see him play and should consider it.”
