For the past few seasons, Giorgi Mamardashvili has developed into one of the best young goalkeepers in the game, often being compared to Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid.
But he really made his talents known to the general public at the European Championships.
Mamardashvili performed admirably as an underdog Georgian team advanced to the next round. Along the road, they even defeated Portugal, with Valencia’s top custodian pulling off a Diogo Dalot curler from the upper corner with a save of the highest kind.
It’s also true that a “number six” is a more immediate worry, which may explain Liverpool’s pursuit of a new custodian, although the uncertainty surrounding Alisson Becker’s future also contributes to the Mamardashvili deal.
HITC is aware that Liverpool views the latter as the former’s long-term replacement.
In October, Alisson will turn 32. Even though he still has three years left on his deal, Saudi Arabia has recently expressed interest. If Alisson leaves at the end of the upcoming season, Mamardashvili is most likely to replace him.
HITC has been informed that negotiations between Valencia and Liverpool have begun. Although a price has not yet been decided upon, Los Che would take about £30 million.
In 2025, Mamardashvili is expected to formally join Liverpool as a player. But they want to reach an agreement quickly, with Valencia loaning the 23-year-old player to another team while they work things out.
People from all around the continent are interested. But before coming to Anfield, Mamardashvili should gain some Premier League experience, according to Liverpool.
Intermediaries have contacted a few teams, including AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, to ask about their interest.
HITC knows that Mamardashvili has also been eyed from a distance by Chelsea and Newcastle United. Odysseas Vlachodimos and Filip Jorgensen, new goalkeepers, have since been acquired by both teams, however Liverpool may have been hesitant to let Mamardashvili join a possible top-four opponent.
Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth handed chance
Mamardashvili is reportedly amenable to the notion of going on loan for 2024–2025 and then joining Liverpool ten months later.
This comes after Valencia declared that its best players would only depart from the Mestalla in response to a “irresistible” offer. While a deal to send Javi Guerra to Atletico Madrid has fallen through, they are eager to hold onto Andre Almeida, a midfielder who is on Wolves’ radar.
Miguel Angel Cordona, the sporting director, maintains that Valencia has already rejected two approaches for Mamardashvili this summer.
Corona tells Mundo Deportivo, “We always maintain a balance between the financial and sporting relationship.” “We can accomplish this if we recognise that selling a player will benefit us and we have the necessary skills.
“We will do it if it can help us and it is possible.”
