Drunk driver killed Walworth man, 24, following collision on Kennington park road

Detectives are looking for witnesses after a man in his 20s died in a collision with a car in Walworth.

At 4.35 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to complaints of a car colliding with a person on Kennington Park Road, near the junction of Penton Place, SE17.

 

The London Ambulance Service responded, and the 24-year-old male was tragically pronounced dead at the site.

 

The man’s next of kin has been contacted, but police are still awaiting final identification and a post-mortem examination.

The car came to a stop at the site, and the driver, a 24-year-old man, was detained on suspicion of causing death by negligent driving while under the influence of drugs.

He was eventually released under inquiry.

DC Clay O’Neill stated, “We would still like to speak with witnesses who have not yet come forward.”
