An automobile accident that claimed one life occurred in Felton on Friday night, and Delaware State Police are looking into it.
According to the DSP, the collision occurred on September 20, shortly after 8 p.m., when a 56-year-old male from Felton was traveling east on Sandtown Road in a GMC Sierra. Unknown factors caused the truck to deviate off the south side of the road as it exited a left turn close to the 4000 block of Sandtown Road.
The truck allegedly left the road once again, flipped over in a ditch, and came to a standstill in a cornfield on the north side of Sandtown Road, according to troopers.
At the scene, the driver—who was not using a seatbelt—was declared deceased. His identity is being kept secret until his family is informed.
While the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit cleared the area and conducted an investigation, Sandtown Road was closed for about three hours.
The inquiry is still being conducted. It is recommended that anyone who saw the collision call Master Corporal J. Lane at (302) 698-8457.
