Exeter Coroner’s Court has opened an inquest into their deaths. It’s still unclear how they passed away.

Assistant coroner Stephen Covell, however, insisted there were no unusual circumstances. It was confirmed during the brief hearing that at approximately 10.50 am, a neighbor discovered Mr. Foulstone, a retired physician, and Mr. Foulstone, a retired podiatrist, in the living room.
“The circumstances of the death are that John and his wife had asked their neighbors to attend their property,” stated Mr. Covell. John and his wife were discovered dead in the living room when they arrived. The medical cause of their deaths remains unknown based on the available evidence.

“It is appropriate that an inquest was held into the deaths on May 24 due to the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the fact that the deaths are currently under investigation. I order that the case be put on hold while more research is done and that a full inquest be scheduled when the time is appropriate.”

The exact date of the full inquest has not yet been set. Police, ambulance, and fire services were all dispatched to the scene when the deaths occurred. At the time, police stated that a file would be prepared for the coroner and that the deaths were not being investigated as suspicious.
