An inquest has opened into the deaths of John Foulstone, 89, and Annabel Foulstone, 85, who were both found dead in the living room of their home in Topsham
An inquest has heard that a neighbour whom the retired general practitioner and his wife had invited over discovered them both dead at their Devon house. On February 13, John Foulstone, 89, and Annabel Foulstone, 85, passed away at their home on Victoria Road in Topsham.
Exeter Coroner’s Court has launched an inquest into their deaths. It’s still unclear how they passed away.
Assistant coroner Stephen Covell, however, insisted there were no unusual circumstances. It was established during the brief hearing that at approximately 10.50 am, a neighbour discovered Mr. Foulstone, a retired physician, and Mr. Foulstone, a retired podiatrist, in the living room.
“The circumstances of the death are that John and his wife had asked their neighbours to attend their property,” stated Mr. Covell. John and his wife were discovered dead in the living room when they arrived. The medical cause of their deaths remains unknown based on the available facts.
“It is appropriate that an inquest was held into the deaths on May 24 due to the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the fact that the deaths are now being investigation. I order that the case be put on hold while more research is done and that a full inquest be scheduled when the time is appropriate.”
The entire inquest date has not yet been announced. Upon the deaths, police, fire, and ambulance services all responded to the site. At the time, police stated that the deaths were not being investigated as suspicious and that a file would be produced for the coroner.
