According to a report by the Barnsley Chronicle, Barnsley may allow one of Kacper Lopata, Conor McCarthy, or Jack Shepherd to leave this summer.
Before the 2019–20 season, Barnsley might let one of the three go during this transfer window. With the addition of former player Marc Roberts, who left neighboring League One team Birmingham City, they have strengthened their local ranks.
The Tykes have looked to Darrell Clarke, a former manager of Bristol Rovers, Walsall, Port Vale, and Cheltenham Town, as their long-term Neill Collins replacement. This summer, they have ventured into the market to acquire Roberts and Derby County’s Conor Hourihane, a midfielder, and Walsall’s Jackson Smith, a goalkeeper.
According to the Barnsley Chronicle’s most recent update, Lopata, McCarthy, or Shepherd may be leaving soon. If there is any interest in them, that is yet to be determined.
Barnsley transfer
Lopata signed a four-year contract with Barnsley last June. Since then, he has made 15 appearances in all competitions, 13 of them in the league.
During the previous season, the 22-year-old former Poland youth international also went on loan to Port Vale from the South Yorkshire team.
McCarthy was acquired by the Tykes in 2022 from St. Mirren, but he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a consistent starter.
He was cleared to play for Swindon Town in during the previous season, making eighteen appearances for the Robins.
For his part, Shepherd was selected from non-league a year ago after making an impression during his trial. His playing with Pontefract Collieries had attracted attention.
