Appeal following a tragic crash that left man fighting for his life in Ashton-in-Makerfield

A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Wigan on Friday.

On Friday, at 5.09 p.m., police responded to reports of a major road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), a silver Karoq Skoda driving eastbound on Wigan Road from the intersection with Bryn Road crossed the center line and entered the westbound carriageway before striking with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old man from Wigan, was hit while standing on a walkway outside a company.

He was taken to the hospital by emergency services with major injuries and is still in critical condition.

There were no other automobiles involved, and no further injuries were reported.

GMP’s severe collision investigation section is asking anyone who may have witnessed this event to come forward.

They are also looking to contact with anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam, or cell phone footage from the area in the moments preceding up to the crash.
