Accrington man dies setting himself on fire at train station. His girlfriend is the culprit.

Just before 6.30 am today, police were called to the Church and Oswaldtwistle Station in Lancashire due to reports of a man on fire. When emergency personnel arrived at the train station, which is located on the outskirts of Accrington, he was declared dead at the scene.

After the incident, forensic officers conducted investigations at the station, and the platform was closed for about four hours. From then, it has reopened. One chair in the shelter looks damaged, and there are still black deposits on the platform that are believed to be caused by fire.

 the circumstances are ongoing.Peter Britcliffe, a local council member, expressed his sadness at learning of the incident. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased; this is a tragic and very sad incident. If someone is having trouble feeling down, I would strongly advise them to get support. I would urge people to get in touch with organizations like the Samaritans, who are available 24/7.”

“Officers were called to Church and Oswaldtwistle Station at 6.27am this morning following reports of a person on fire at the location,” a British Transport Police spokesman stated. Sadly, the person was declared dead at the scene. The platform was shut down while forensic experts conducted a preliminary examination of the area. At 10.35 a.m., the station reopened. inquiries to establishing the circumstances are ongoing.”
