On Wednesday, August 14, at around 10.20 a.m., the man’s body was discovered. Only a few hours after he was reported to have been involved in a brawl on Felixstowe’s promenade, he was discovered dead.
He was vacationing at the Suffolk Sands vacation park with his family. The previous evening, at 9:30 p.m., the attack was reported to the police.
According to a post-mortem performed by a pathologist from the Home Office, traumatic head injuries was the initial cause of death, as confirmed by Suffolk Police. A Felixstowe resident, 28, has been placed under custody on suspicion of murder. At the Police Investigation Centre in Martlesham, which is close to Ipswich, the man is presently being questioned.
“Investigations into the man’s death continue,” Suffolk Police Detective Inspector Mark Hughes stated. Enquiries are being made by detectives, who are also examining the facts surrounding the altercation and locating witnesses who might be able to help with the inquiry.
“Anyone who may have seen an attack on the waterfront or who may have information that could aid us in our investigations is welcome to contact us. It is crucial to emphasise that, in our opinion, this is a singular occurrence that poses no greater risk to the general public.”
A man who lived in a nearby mobile home expressed his belief that the deceased man was a vacationer who might have been staying with his grandfather and other guests. “They had only been here a couple of nights,” the man remarked. That this young man passed away is awful.”
Another person said, “This is a tight-knit community. Many are really distraught and curious as to how he passed away.”
