A 27-year-old woman has been arrested after a burglary  in St Albans.

On Monday at approximately 3:50 p.m., a woman knocked on the door of a house in Marshalswick Lane and made an offer to sell goods.

The woman was let inside, but it’s thought that she then went into another area of the property without permission and stole a sizable amount of money from the victim’s purse.

The arrest was made possible by collaboration between St. Albans police officers and the St. Albans City and District Council’s CCTV staff.

She was granted bail while the investigation is ongoing.

“This is a great example of how the local council and police work together to keep the local area safe,” stated Detective Constable Krisztina Gulyas.

“The likelihood that we could identify the perpetrator and, consequently, make an arrest would be low in the absence of this CCTV.

“At this moment, the suspect has been released on police bail, and our investigations are still ongoing.”
