Yesterday at 7:25 p.m., police and emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle collision on the Midlands Highway (Southern Outlet), Launceston, involving an Orange Holden Commodore Sedan.
A 22-year-old Hadspen woman was the Commodore’s driver and only passenger. Emergency personnel were able to remove the woman from the car, however she tragically passed away at Launceston General Hospital shortly after due to the injuries she had received in the collision.
According to preliminary enquiries, speed might have had a role. Given the tragic deaths on our roads and the fact that 2024 has undoubtedly been a terrible year for collision fatalities, Tasmania Police advise drivers to exercise caution when driving on Tasmanian roads, particularly in relation to “The Fatal Five.”
Anyone who saw the collision or saw an Orange Holden Commodore Sedan driving in the Launceston central business district before it happened is asked by Tasmania Police to call Crimestoppers at 1800 333 000 or Northern Crash Investigation Services at 131444.
