Crazy driver arrested following Portslade fatal collision

A motorcyclist who was engaged in an incident in which another rider died after colliding with a car as they “raced” each other at “crazy” speeds has been sentenced to jail.

Aaron Barrett drove at dangerously high speeds through Fox Way, Portslade.

Witnesses observed the 32-year-old riding alongside another motorbike rider, with the two guys appearing to be “racing” one other.

According to one witness, “It was crazy how fast they were going.”

The other rider, 33-year-old Luke Batchelor of Southwick, collided with an incoming vehicle and died at the scene.

Barrett was himself seriously injured and was arrested in hospital.

He was disqualified at the time of the incident and told officers while under caution that he may have reached 80mph in the 30mph zone.
