Louth crash: Man and woman killed in tragic Louth crash

Gardaí are investigating a tragic two-vehicle incident. It occurred on the R166 near Annagassan in Dunleer at roughly 8.50 a.m. on Sunday.

A man and a woman have perished in a two-vehicle accident in County Louth.

It occurred on the R166 near Annagassan in Dunleer approximately 8.50 a.m. this morning.

The driver of one car, a man in his sixties, was pronounced deceased on the scene. His body has been transferred to the Mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where a post-mortem will be performed.

The driver of the second car, a woman in her 40s, was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she is being treated for critical injuries, but unfortunately died later on.

The road remains closed for a forensic collision investigation with local diversions in place.
