There were delays in the area.

A 17-year-old teenager died in an accident in South London late last night. A adolescent guy who was with him was brought to the hospital before being detained.

They were discovered by an off-duty cop on a busy road near Biggin Hill.

Detectives believe the motorbike was near a car at the time of the incident, but it did not stop at the site.

Police are attempting to locate the driver.

Biggin Hill’s Main Road has been closed in both directions since midnight, between Saltbox Hill and Sunningvale Avenue.

The investigation resulted in the diversion of six London buses: 246, 320, 464, 664, 684, and R2.

Witnesses are encouraged to call police at 101 and indicate reference 8152/10JUN24. To remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At around 11.58pm on Sunday, an off-duty police officer came across a motorbike that had been involved in a collision on Main Road in Biggin Hill. Before the London Ambulance Service arrived, two male teens received first aid.

“Despite the efforts of rescue responders, one of the men, aged 17, was tragically pronounced dead on the site. His family has been informed and will be assisted by specialist officials.

“A second male was rushed to the hospital, where his condition was deemed non-life-threatening. He’s been arrested and transported to a south London police station.”

A London Ambulance Service representative stated, “We were called at 11.59pm on Sunday, June 9, to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Main Road and Sunningvale Avenue in Biggin Hill. We dispatched an ambulance crew and paramedics in fast response vehicles to the location.

“Our first paramedics got on scene in about five minutes. Unfortunately, a person was pronounced dead on the scene.
