There was a backlog of traffic on the bridge
Traffic is delayed on the Severn Bridge this morning, Wednesday, September 18, due to a multi-vehicle incident on the M48. Three vans seemed to be involved in the crash, which happened to be eastbound according to traffic cameras.
For around twenty-five minutes, the traffic between junctions 2 and 1 remained still. At approximately 7.45 am, there was a crash recorded, and by 9.10 am, traffic was back to normal.

Three-vehicle collision prompts police call
“We received a report of a road traffic collision heading east at junction 2 of the M48 at approximately 7.35am on Wednesday, September 18,” Gwent Police stated.
“Three automobiles were involved in the crash when officers arrived. There were no injuries reported.
One lane was blocked.
