Done deal for Sheffield Wednesday welcome Leicesters city B Player

Every Sheffield Wednesday team is winding down their preseason preparations as their under-18 team gets ready for this weekend’s season opener.
The under-18 team of Sheffield Wednesday has announced the addition of Charlie Hobbs, a former goalkeeper for Leicester City, to their group of talented young goalkeepers. Hobbs will be one of six first-year scholars at Middlewood Road.

Along with Aodhan Sopala, Liam Clayton, Kailen Hatfield, and Jacob Jessop, talented young player Daniel Da Costa will formally advance to the under-18 level. Hobbs is the new face, taking on the challenge of continuing the legacy of goalkeeper starlets Pierce Charles and Jack Hall, who both rose to prominence on a global scale while playing for the Owls in their youth divisions.

“It’s a small group we’ve brought in so that’s a little bit different but it’s nice because most of the lads have already been in and around the 18s last season,” academy coach Andy Sharp remarked. Charlie is the only new member of the group. Because they are already familiar with everything—the staff, the program, and the standards—the transition has been smooth in that regard.

According to Sharp, Wednesday’s youth have had a great preseason program and are eager to play Millwall on Saturday to begin their campaign. The game is scheduled to begin at Middlewood Road at 3 p.m.

“This has helped us get started right away because we already have a solid relationship with them. Our goal is to progress and develop players, and the first step in that process is building a strong relationship with them. As that has already been completed, the changeover has gone extremely well.

We completed some excellent work during our stay at Queen Ethelburga’s in York, which has wonderful facilities. We had a great summer. While we were there, the boys truly profited from an extensive and well-planned program. Throughout the summer, we have made an effort to provide the boys with a variety of experiences, including friendly games against teams they wouldn’t typically play against and new challenges.

“The boys want to get going in terms of the competitive league and cup games, so yes, we are looking forward to it,” he said, adding that they had reached the point where they had had enough. Whether at home or away, I can never recall an easy game against Millwall. The boys have been informed today to anticipate a very difficult start on Saturday.
