Horror in Dreamland Mum and daughter fatally injured at Margate

A mother has described the horrifying moment she and her daughter, age three, suffered injuries from a teacup that broke off a ride at a theme park in Kent.

As Kate Davies and little Poppy were “flung forwards” on the Dreamland in Margate attraction, people screamed in terror.
Poppy was bumped in the head, and the 38-year-old Bromley teacher had a bang to her head, blurred vision, and nasty bruises on her arm.

Freddie, her eight-year-old “traumatized” son, had been in another teacup and has since been discouraged from visiting theme parks.

“For my children it was pretty traumatic because we’d gone there for a fun day out and then quite quickly into the day all of this happened.” As the ride began they were asked by the operator if they would like to be spun and Poppy enthusiastically said yes. Distressed little Poppy was lifted out of the cup as Dreamland staff and members of the public rushed over.

They have since been invited to return to Dreamland by bosses but the family have been put off fairground rides for now.but William is now saying he doesn’t want to go, which is horrible because we’ve got two small children,” said Kate.
