Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence earlier today
Following a “police incident” that closed a road near a school earlier today (July 18), a guy has been placed under arrest. People were advised to “avoid the area” as Marlborough Road in Gillingham was forced to close as a result of the incident.
According to Kent Police, officers were called this morning at 5.45 a.m. regarding a claim that a woman had been sexually assaulted in the Gillingham neighbourhood of Marlborough Road. As a result, Marlborough Road was closed at The Falcon Cafe in both directions.
Although traffic was reportedly backed up from Lock roadway to the main roadway at the time, it has since reopened. Parents and students were advised to “avoid the area” by Brompton Academy, located on Marlborough Road, and there was a noticeable police presence close to the Great Lines Heritage Park, according to witnesses.
