Viljami Sinisalo Joins Celtic from Aston Villa
With the undisclosed price he paid to Aston Villa, Viljami Sinisalo, a custodian from Finland, became Celtic’s first summer acquisition. With the Scottish powerhouses, the 22-year-old international has committed to a five-year deal.
Sinisalo’s Journey to Celtic
After spending the previous season on loan at Exeter City, Sinisalo made an astounding 50 appearances. His prior involvement with Ayr United in Scotland broadens his knowledge of the league. “It feels amazing,” Sinisalo told the Celtic website, expressing his joy at becoming a part of the team during their preseason tour in the United States.

“It’s really exciting to be part of something so big, because I know Celtic is a huge football club,” Sinisalo said, emphasising the appeal and status of his new team. His performance at Hampden, when they drew 2-2 before to Euro 2024, against Scotland demonstrated his ability as an international player.
Brendan Rodgers’ Goalkeeping Vision
Brendan Rodgers, manager of Celtics, is not going to stop there. Later this week, he is expected to get back together with 37-year-old former Leicester City custodian Kasper Schmeichel. The goal of the deal is to strengthen the team after Joe Hart’s retirement. “He is a keeper with real qualities and someone we have been aware of and monitored for some time,” Rodgers said in reference to Sinisalo.
“Obviously, we’ve been trying to improve our goalkeeping group, and we’re happy to have found one of the outstanding goalkeepers we truly desired,” Rodgers continued.
